Laef N. Lorton

Laef was born and raised in the Jersey County area.  He grew up on his family farm located on the Greene-Jersey County line.  He attended Calhoun County elementary schools and graduated from Jersey Community Highschool in 1997.  Laef attended Illinois State University where he received his bachelor’s degree in 2001. He then went on to law school at Southern Illinois University-Carbondale. While in law school, Laef clerked with the Illinois State Appellate Defender’s Office and Southern Illinois University Student’s Legal Assistance Center.  After graduating law school, he worked for Greene County State’s Attorney, Matthew Goetten, as a 711 assistant prosecutor and acted as a special prosecutor while State’s Attorney Goetten was on military leave.  Laef opened the Law Offices of Laef N. Lorton in November 2005. He joined the law firm of George P. Wittman, P.C. in 2006, and became a partner with the firm in January 2008.

Laef is experienced in real estate/agricultural law, civil litigation, personal injury, and estate administration/planning.  Laef and his wife, Allison, live in Jerseyville with their three children.

Kristine M. Tuttle

Kris was born and raised in Harrisburg, Illinois. She obtained her bachelor’s degree in 1992 and law degree in 1995, both from the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign.  She began her practice of law in insurance defense litigation in Mattoon, Illinois and has since worked in various positions in Central and Southern Illinois, including as an Assistant State’s Attorney in White County. Most recently she was a partner with Black, Ballard, McDonald, P.C. in Mt. Vernon, where she concentrated her practice in mineral law (oil, gas and coal rights), mortgage foreclosure, bankruptcy, and real estate litigation. She has prosecuted and defended clients in criminal and civil jury trials and bench trials in Central and Southern Illinois and has argued cases before the Illinois Supreme Court and Illinois Court of Appeals for the Fourth and Fifth Districts. 

Kris joined Wittman & Lorton, P.C. in 2018, where her practice areas consist of general civil litigation, including personal injury, probate, and real estate litigation, banking matters including both creditors’ and debtors’ rights, and mineral law. She resides in Jerseyville with her husband, Brad, and their three children.

Ally Wallendorf - Paralegal

Ally was born and raised in Calhoun County. She attended Lewis & Clark Community College, where she earned her Associate’s Degree in paralegal studies. She joined Wittman & Lorton, P.C. in August 2013. Ally is the paralegal for Laef Lorton. Ally resides in Batchtown, Illinois with her husband, Andy, and their three children.

Cathy Niemeyer - Legal Assistant

Cathy grew up in Jersey County and still resides there with her husband, Ryan, and their four children. Cathy attended McKendree University, where she earned her Bachelor’s Degree. Cathy joined Wittman & Lorton, P.C. in 2021. She is the legal assistant for Kris Tuttle.

Megan Carson - Legal Assistant

Megan grew up in Bethalto, Illinois. She attended Greenville College, where she received her Bachelor’s Degree. Megan joined Wittman & Lorton, P.C. in August 2013. She is the legal assistant for Laef Lorton and George Wittman. Megan resides in Bethalto, Illinois with her husband, Bryce, and their two children.
